FAQs
-
Yes, gentle baby massage can usually be started from birth, as long as your baby is well, comfortable, and showing they are happy to be touched.
-
Yes. Avoid massage if your baby is unwell, has a fever, has unexplained pain, has broken or irritated skin, or has been advised not to by a health professional.
-
Yes, if your baby was premature, has a medical condition, has skin problems, or you are unsure.
-
Premature babies may need a more individual, developmentally sensitive approach to baby massage. However, as long as your neonatal team/midwife are happy with their progress and they are not otherwise unwell, you can begin to learn to massage them.
-
A soft, warm blanket or towel for your baby to lie on, your changing bag with the usual spare clothes and nappies, and any comforters they might like.
Mats, oil, and refreshments are provided for you.
-
If you are attending any of my courses or I am coming to you for a private session, I will provide an organic, hypoallergenic oil for you to use on your baby.
If you have booked a virtual session, you will need to have an oil or baby moisturiser to hand. I will provide more information on booking.
-
Dress your baby in easy-to-remove clothing. When we come to massage them, we remove their clothing to expose the part of the body we are working on, or you can undress them down to their nappy.
-
No problem! I always encourage you to follow your baby’s cues. You can stop, pause, do what you need to do, and pick up again when your baby is ready.
-
I offer a virtual catch-up class if you need to miss a session. However, we do recap the moves we’ve learned each week, so. if this isn’t suitable for you, you can still catch up the next week!
-
I would advise leaving 72 hours after a vaccination before massaging your baby. They may feel poorly (in which case we would never massage them), and the injection site may be tender.
-
Although baby massage has the potential to reduce discomfort for your baby, it cannot cure reflux, constipation, or colic and should never be a substitute for medical treatment.
-
If your baby is already crawling, it would be easier to book a private session where we can try different positions to suit you and your baby as they get on the move!
-
Yes - however, you would need one parent/carer for each baby and would need to book two spaces in the class (I can offer a reduced rate for multiples - please contact me for more information).
Alternatively, some parents choose to book one spot, and bring one baby one week while leaving the other with a carer at home. They then alternate with the other baby the following week - this gives you some rare one-to-one time with each of your babies!
-
No - baby massage tuition is all about supporting parents/carers to massage their baby. If you think your baby has particular discomfort that needs addressing by a health professional, you should speak to your GP or midwife. A number of osteopaths also specialise in providing hands-on relief for babies via cranial osteopathy.

I trained as a Baby Massage Instructor with the London School of Massage, one of the UK’s largest massage training providers.
The course is only accessible to qualified bodywork therapists and health professionals, and involves face-to-face teaching, extensive coursework, case study work, and teaching assessment.
It is also accredited by the Federation of Holistic Therapists (of which I am also a member).
Alongside my training, and my certification as a Massage Therapist, I hold a DBS certificate and certificates in Emergency First Aid and Paediatric First Aid.

I am insured through Hiscox Insurance through my membership of the Federation of Holistic Therapists.
